All Lowell's sculptures and ceramics are hand built so there is no sense of symmetry. Much like the Japanese pots, they have been making for centuries; influencing him to experiment also with the use of scale, bring contrast into the mix, from a large moon jar to quite petite vessels. As well as using colour to his advantage, light and dark, Yin and Yang. Helping to provide a real sense of earthiness and rawness which is what he tries to pull towards and convey through a grounding power in these objects.

‘‘Mostly I get inspired by connecting with the elements, I’m deeply drawn to the ocean, breath-work and yoga. They have been a big part of my life for the last 1/2 a decade and inspire me monumentally. I wish that I lean towards my art being questionable, is it new? is it old? or somewhere in between? Volcanic mixed glazes I lather on top of wood ash and numerous organic materials I source, along with natural bark and trees I use to imprint creating depths along my work”.
